        Packaging design

        FROM SHEET TO BOX

        For syxgott we designed the Gamechanger box from scratch, from the logo to the finished folding carton. Condoms are classed as medical devices, so there are strict rules on which product and manufacturing details must appear on the packaging and how. We integrated this mandatory information so that it is complete and still fits the design. Here the original die-cut sheet folds up step by step.           Magazine design for Ursache\Wirkung, issue after issue

          Since issue 136 we have been designing the magazine Ursache\Wirkung: quarterly, 84 pages plus cover. The basic design is set, and within it every issue is new. We decide how articles break, where images go and in what order the pages run.

          Technical documentation

          Operating manuals in up to six languages

          Over time we have laid out many operating manuals for Carl Walther in German, English, French, Spanish, Italian and, when needed, Turkish, with around 42 pages per language. The basic layout stays the same, and we adapt each manual to its content. When Walther changed its corporate typeface, we rebuilt the basic layout from scratch.

          You supply the translations, we place them and make sure every language sits cleanly on the page.

            Frequently asked questions about graphic design

            What does graphic design cost with you?

            That depends on the scope: a new logo, a complete brand identity, a trade fair booth with back wall and counter or a magazine with a new layout system are very different projects. You receive a quote with clearly itemised costs in advance.

            How much does a flyer or business card cost?

            We design business cards from €560 and double-sided flyers from €840, both net. Larger projects such as brochures or packaging are calculated individually. After our first call you will receive a quote with clearly itemised costs.

            What do we get at the end?

            Your logo in all the formats you need: EPS, SVG, PDF and PNG. Depending on the scope, also the style guide, the templates for presentations and stationery, and the usage rights to the design.

            We already have a logo. Can you work with it?

            Yes. We build on your existing logo and design everything that goes with it. For alpterm Heizsysteme the logo already existed, and we designed embossed business cards and a flyer with a soft-touch finish.

            Can we edit the presentation templates ourselves?

            Yes, that's exactly what they're made for. We build a PowerPoint master with all the slide types you need regularly. Your team just types in the content, while logo, colours and spacing stay fixed in the master.

            Why don't you show client presentations?

            Presentations are almost always internal documents of our clients and not meant for the public. That's why we show examples with invented brands on this page.

            Do you design packaging and labels?

            Yes. We design product packaging, labels and inserts, matched to material, printing process and impact on the shelf.

            Do you also build the trade fair booth?

            No. We design all the graphics for your booth and prepare them print-ready. Your booth builder takes care of construction. If you don't have one yet, we can still start designing and adjust the dimensions as soon as the floor plan is ready.

            Do you design for trade fairs and events abroad?

            Yes. For example, we designed a booth for Carl Walther and HUB Sports in India and the presence at the IPSC European Championship in Greece. We prepare the files to the specifications of the local printer.

            Do you also handle printing?

            You always receive print-ready files to your printer's specifications. On request and for an additional fee, we handle the process: we recommend suitable printers, coordinate with them and hand over the files. The final print approval always lies with the client.

            Do you also take care of content or just the layout?

            We take care of design, layout and final artwork. Texts, product data and images come from you or your editorial service provider. Translations come from you or your translation agency, we place them and adjust the layout until every language sits cleanly. If material is missing, we let you know early which gaps are holding up the layout.

            Do we get the open files?

            As standard, we deliver print-ready files. If you want to take over the open files, that's possible as a separate item. We then calculate the preparation and handover separately.

            Do you work with agencies?

            Yes. In that case we work on your clients' projects and stick to the given design framework. Communication with the end client stays with you.

            Do you only work for companies in Ulm?

            No. We're based in Ulm and work for clients in Ulm, Neu-Ulm, Illertissen, Memmingen and the Alb-Donau district just as much as across Germany and internationally. In that case we coordinate remotely.
